According to military sources, the Russian forces are advancing towards the strategic town of Pokrovsk in eastern Ukraine.
On October 27, it is reported that the Russian forces have moved forward to enter into several eastern towns of Ukraine more than they had ever reached earlier. With this movement, Russian as well as Ukrainian bloggers have said with information that they approach further towards the strategically important Pokrovsk city.
“Late Saturday night, a group called DeepState, which closely coordinates activities with the Ukrainian army and studies war footage, posted an advisory on the Telegram messenger stating that ‘the enemy pushed forward in Selydove,’ providing a map of it by which the positions of troops from Russia are immediately observed in the southeast quadrant.”.
Russian forces have been pushing into the town of Selydove, a Ukrainian mining city in the Donetsk region, rapidly and viciously, for the past week. If Russian forces can take the town of Selydove, they will immediately create the possibility of advancing further on the critical supply hub, Pokrovsk, 20 kilometers or roughly 12 miles northwest from Selydove.
According to the Russian news agency SHOT, passing on the information via Telegram, Moscow’s control has now reached 80 percent.
According to Russian authorities, the head of the Donetsk region Denis Pushilin declared that Russian military forces placed their unit’s flag at the roof of one of the buildings located in the town of Hirnyk with great pride, RIA said. The town is 14 kilometers to the south of Selydove.
Russian military bloggers also reported that Russian forces were approaching operational control of the town of Kurakhove, a locality which is sited just to the southwest of Hirnyk.
Reuters cannot confirm any reports currently circulating on the issue, and no statement has been made by Ukraine.
According to the evening report it released on Saturday, Ukraine’s Armed Forces said forces defending Kyiv had repelled 36 separate Russian attacks that hit the Pokrovsk front throughout the preceding day. Some intense military action was being witnessed in the specific locale of Selydove, where fierce battles continued, though several battles were continuing in other locations.
After the complete brutal invasion of Ukraine by Moscow since February 2022, the objective of the Russian army to capture the capital city Kyiv and achieve a decisive clear-cut victory went in vain and remained abortive. As a consequence of such a defeat, President Vladimir Putin changed the direction of the war and seized the historically significant industrial district called Donbas comprising two provinces Luhansk and Donetsk in eastern Ukraine. This comes from open-source data last month, with Russian forces securing important success in the sector, gaining speed not seen since back in March 2022. Even this was on the back of Ukraine seizing part of Russia’s Kursk region.
